Appraisal

A message just got passed along. Our house has appraised at value. Everything on the Buyers' side is flowing smoothly, so it looks like we will be outta here in a few weeks. Guess the granola and bread I gave to the appraiser helped. :)
On the where we are moving to front: no clue. The farmhouse option is still in play. We have a contract, but it is a short sale and contingent upon bank and FHA approval. We don't know when we will hear from them, but we are praying it will be soon. Everything else has happened in record time, so we'll see.
Even if we have approval this week, I do not think it is possible to close by the 14th. This means we still need an interim place to sleep. My mom has offered her guest room as one option. My best friend has offered us her basement as it will be finished in two weeks. Sweet offer, but I'd hate to wreck our friendship. There are long-term hotels by Sweetheart's work also. Depending on what happens with the farm, it could mean a combination of all the offers.
We haven't ruled out renting a place for awhile as well. We just aren't finding any rentals that want to be short term and we would prefer not to be renting long term. We'll just see what happens. So much has happened so quick that I am left just waiting to see what's next and unable to plan much.
Someday I will get back to regular blogging on something other than moving. I hope.

Yay! It sure seems to be the Lords timing for you all to be at least moving *out* of this house. I am amazed at how quickly everything has gone through!
Still praying that, everything will move quickly on the farm if thats where God wants you to be, and now I'll add "interim housing" to that request. Thanks for the update!

We did an extended stay hotel for 2 weeks during a gap between houses. It was a lot of fun (we don't have cable tv at home)! If you have major chains like Homestead Hotels you can also compare discounts online through their own websites and Expedia, too.

Kimberly ~ Congratulations on the quick sale! Both times we sold a home it went very quickly (contract placed in less than a week each time). Neither time did we have a home to go to. And in fact, both times we were moving quite a distance away (out of state the first time, and across state the second). There were so many details rushing upon us that the future seemed blurry, but when the time came the direction God was leading was crystal clear. It is times like the one you are in that create the moments we (as Christians) look back upon and marvel at the hand of God upon our lives. He simply wants our trust in Him. I know you feel like you're in the midst of a whirlwind, but the dust will settle eventually. Rest in Him -- you and the little one within.

The last three weeks we lived in Florida we stayed at a (fully furnished) corporate apartment that my husband's company rented for us. His company just rented it from a regular apartment complex that kept a few apartments set aside for such purposes. I've no idea how the cost of that would compare with a hotel; I simply offer the idea as one more possibility for the transition time.

Praying you have answers quickly.

Hugs to you and the family.

Glad the appraisal came through okay. Good luck on the farmhouse. Our daughter bought a townhouse on a short sale this year. While it did take a little longer, and much more red tape, it wasn't all that much longer to process the loan. There were a few last minute hiccups, that had us worried, but all turned out well. I hope it goes as smoothly for you.

Just read the last several posts on your blog. I really identified with the alone part...encouraged really. I have felt very alone lately, thought seemingly surrounded by friends...thanks for the update. Hang in there. Glad your house sold so quickly.
