Company Girl Coffee 2.19

I must admit to joining in the chat with a cup of tea, instead of coffee. My time to write comes in the afternoon and my coffee is usually a morning thing. So I have filled one of my favorite teapots with vanilla tea. While the bread is rising, I will write for a few minutes. After the loaves are formed and rising again, I will curl up in my favorite corner on the loveseat in the bay window with my new "Victoria" magazine and my teacup and enjoy a few quiet minutes while the boys nap.

I just finished reading "Persuasion" and started "Lady Susan", another Jane Austen story. It is cleverly written though I doubt of it ever being made into a film as it is shorter and written entirely as letters. It is fun though.

I was able to finish up some sewing this morning with still more to do. Nothing exciting, or pretty, just stuff that needs to be done. I prefer craft sewing and being creative to shortening sleeves and sewing covers for machines.

I am buried under laundry today. I usually do it twice a week, but somehow got off schedule and have a lot to do. It's not the most exciting thing, but so necessary.

I went through a tub of old maternity clothes and sorted through them. I'll need to have Sweetheart get the other tubs out this weekend. I was blessed with several bags of clothes last time and some I never needed. It's time to pass the ones I won't wear onto someone else. I am sort of all over the place with clothes right now as the maternity things are swallowing me up and the regular clothes getting snug. It is what it is. And it is a blessing.


It's been a cold, quiet week here in Colorado. Several inches of snow fell yesterday and through the night. It is lovely, but unwanted. More snow is forecast. But snow, or not, Sweetheart and I have reservations for lunch at a tearoom across town.
I am excited for some time with him. We are planning to visit a few of the shops nearby featured in the last "Victoria". Their sizes would not permit a stroller and I would find it difficult to just have the boys roaming free. They are well-behaved, but they are curious and only two and four after all.

Otherwise, we have no real plans for the weekend, but to be together and stay warm. Hope you are all having a wonderful Friday! What do you have planned for the weekend?

Inspired by Victoria

I so enjoyed this month's issue of "Victoria" Magazine that it inspired me to change the top of the credenza in the dining room. Some of these pieces had been out before the holidays, but I had not taken the time to really set things back up in an orderly fashion.

So, during naptime yesterday I gathered these treasures up and arranged them. The willoware platter had been on the counter for a few weeks with our fresh fruit on it. It's so much easier to remember to snack on the fruit when it is visible.

The little creamer and teacups were my Grandmother's when she was a child. They have been on display above my kitchen cupboards, but I moved them to join the others and add some contrast in size as the two tureens are large.

My favorite color is blue and I've loved the Blue Willow pattern forever, so it was a great surprise when the owners' of this tureen gave it to me after I had admired it several years ago. (Thank you, Aunt Linda, for sending it on to me!!!!) The platter was from them as well. Amazing.

This Flow Blue tureen/covered dish was something Sweetheart and I found at an auction quite some time ago.The inside design is quite lovely.

I Love Mail!

Yesterday's mail contained two lovely surprises: a card and tea from Kelli and my first new issue of Victoria Magazine!!!! Plus, no bills so it was a great mail day all around. If you haven't signed up for Victoria, hop on over to their website. They've added a bunch of new features to enjoy.

Many thanks to Kelli as well as your gift brightened my entire week. What a great brand of tea! I'll have to keep an eye out for that one!

On the Victoria Magazine website under the Advertising Link at the top is a prototype of the Launch Issue. My attempts at linking directly to it have failed, so you'll just have to go check it out yourself.

It's soooo beautiful! I am so excited. It really looks like they are doing it right! Welcome back, Victoria. Oh, how I've missed you! Guess it's time to get out all my old October issues and get inspired all over again.

Wouldn't this be fun? This is from an email I received today. If only I had a spare $250, plus airfare and hotel costs...LOL Wouldn't it be nice to be able to have some input into how they're redesigning this? It sounds like a lovely time.

Based on the webpage they put up, I'd say the NEW Victoria is on the right track. What fun!
I signed up for a subscription already even though it would be mailed until October. (There's no cost until you receive the first magazine.)
I signed up early in the hopes that a positive response from all of us old readers will help them with their advertisers and keep Victoria going strong.
In the meanwhile, I'll keep rereading my old issues.
