Daybook

FOR TODAY...
from Peggy's Daybook

Outside my window... some sunshine, but still a lot of snow and ice from our Christmas snow. It has been too cold to melt.

I am thinking... about the boys.

I am thankful for... good news & the Good News and new news. :)

I am wearing... jeans and a pretty blue shirt.

I am remembering... the pot of tea I brewed before I put the boys to bed....I am back with my cup of Vanilla Tea. Mmm.

I am going... nowhere today.

I am currently reading... Riders of the Pale Moon by Davis Bunn. He is one of my FAVORITE authors.

I am hoping... things turn out differently this time.

On my mind... a lot, but it's too new to share today.

Noticing that...life goes easier with a routine in place.

Pondering these words... "It is as if we believe that our value comes from what we do. And why shouldn't we think that? It is the message of our culture. The only problem is, it's a lie! Our value come not from what we do, but from who we are. And we are beloved children of God. The Bible reminds us, 'How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!' (1 John 3:1) God loves me, and His love is not stingy or limited. He gives it lavishly, generously, enough that it makes me who I am."
--from breathe by Keri Wyatt Kent

From the kitchen... leftover Beef & Barley Stew and maybe some caramels.

Around the house... I need to reboot the laundry and pick up a few things, otherwise it is ready for the week! So nice. Back on the Flylady wagon.

One of my favorite things~ quiet.

From my picture journal...

Pumpkin

Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...

Outside my Window...
the petunias and cosmos are in full bloom, the morning glory vines are growing by the day--still waiting for the flowers-the sunlight is filtering through the heart-shaped leaves creating a beautiful glow visible through the lace curtains.

I am thankful for...
such a wonderful "day off" yesterday that I'll share about later. It was wonderful!

From the kitchen...
I'll be trying to make plum jam this week. We just ended up eating the corn and the onions are still not done. Oh well! Maybe later this week. I did make bagels for the first time last week and we're enjoying those.

I am wearing...
black capris, black shirt--colorful I know-- and my apron. At least the apron has some color...

I am reading...
Animal, Vegetable, Miracle; Preserving; The Story of Tea, and my latest "Victoria" and "Tea Time" magazines.

I am hoping...
Autumn goes smoother than summer.

I am creating...
nothing. I'll have to fix that!

I am hearing...
Jars of Clay's "Redemption Songs", boys chatting to each other and themselves, coffee percolating on the stove, and the endless train whistles.

Around the house...
I need to really deep clean everything. I was gathering some of my Autumn decorations this morning after exercising and want to put them out, but I need to move and remove some other things, plus it's always easier after a good scrub down of everything.

One of my favorite things...
Autumn. We had a glimpse of it last week with rain and cooler weather, but this week it is back to high temperatures.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
a friend and I are trying to figure out a time to meet, Bunco tomorrow night, and going to
Berry Patch Farm with a friend and her kids on Thursday.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

This is Bacon Bits. He lives at Berry Patch Farm. Here he is trying to get the berries Pumpkin and I picked last trip over there.

Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...

Outside my Window...

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Denver. It is July so it is hot.

I am thinking...

about Sweetheart and missing him.

I am thankful for...

such a blessed life. Though the events of this summer have not been what I would have chosen, He is faithful.

From the kitchen...

I tried to fix my runny jam via these instructions. We'll see how they turn out! I am enjoying my leftovers for lunch today from this Pioneer Woman Cooks recipe. It will probably be dinner as well! Last night I blanched and peeled the half bushel of tomatoes. They FILLED this bowl up completely. I'll make them into tomato sauce as time allows and will try out my pressure canner for the first time. Hope it doesn't blow!!! (I'll be waiting to try it out AFTER the boys are in bed tonight just to be safe.)

I am creating...

a huge mess in the kitchen! I've run the dishwasher WAY too many times this week with all the canning stuff.

I am going...

to need to run out and get a few groceries including lemon juice for the tomato sauces. We'll go after naps when it will hopefully be a bit cooler out.

I am wearing...

a long black skirt, a white tank, and my apron of the day with my hair in a barrette. I am barefoot, wishing I was still pregnant, and hanging out in the kitchen as usual.

I am reading...

Mrs. Sharp's Traditions: Reviving Victorian Family Celebrations Of Comfort & Joy, Ball's Blue Book of Preserving, and West From Home, a collection of Laura Ingalls Wilder's letters to Almanzo during a trip she took to San Fransisco to visit their daughter, Rose.

I am hoping...

to get all those tomatoes canned!

I am hearing...

the London Symphony Orchestra play Franz Schubert's Entracte No. 3 from Rosamunde.

Around the house...

are jars--lots of jars!!!!

One of my favorite things...

is red gingham fabric. Random, I know, but there are little touches of it all over the kitchen including the little quote book I received from Quill Cottage's Art Swap. It was made by Nancy. It is adorable and I will post pictures once I have a camera. I bought some more gingham so that I can dress up the jars I'm canning once they're done. I also picked up some ticking with roses and a pretty beige and rose calico as well. Just trying to make the everyday a little more special.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...

I have Bunco with my dear, sweet friends tomorrow night. I was sick last month so I am really looking forward to seeing them all. (Thanks Mom for babysitting!) Sweetheart returns on Thursday. Otherwise, our calendar is W-I-D-E open. Wanna get together? :)

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Alas, no camera this week. If you click on the Mrs. Sharp's link you can look inside the book at the wonderful illustrations and pages. I love this book!

Hop on over here for more Daybooks. (I think this wins the award for most links I've ever put in one post!)

Daybook 2

Outside my Window...

the sky is a beautiful Colorado blue with some wispy white clouds up high.

I am thinking...

about breakfast.

I am thankful for...

everything!!! Life is so good.

I am thankful that my Dad is doing so well after receiving a pacemaker last week.

I am thankful to be at home.
I am thankful for the new screen door Sweetheart installed yesterday. It's right next to my computer so I can see outside. The fresh morning breeze blowing into the kitchen is so delightful!

From the kitchen...

not much yet! I need to make some bread and finish my menu plan for the week. Sweetheart was talking about cookies this weekend and I've got some apples that need to be used. Pie or cookies? Decisions, decisions...

I am creating...

a new Everything Book. I need to be working on my Art Swap stuff, too!!

I am going...

to the dentist this afternoon. Woohoo. Wasn't I just there six months ago?

I am wearing...

a denim shirt, white capris and my hair in just up in a barrette. I'll do something with it later.

I am reading...

Farmer Boy.

I am hoping...

to finish something!!!! Anything!!!!!

I am hearing...

boys chattering, a cricket chirping out back, the robin that just flew into my garden, & the washing machine.

Around the house...

are a few projects I'm working on and needing to finish.

One of my favorite things...

is exploring my garden each day to see what new things have arrived. I believe I can see a poppy out there.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...

working on the cushions for the porch, creating the projects for the Art Swap, taking care of little boys, weeding the garden, and going over to Joanne's on Thursday. Pretty much all the stuff I started last week, but didn't finish.

A Picture Thought I am Sharing...

This is just a random family picture from when my Grandparents were in Germany after WWII. My Grandma is the beautiful woman in the frames. I like the simple dailyness of this picture.

Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my Window...

the sky is cloudy. We are enjoying a rain and hailstorm. Some of those hailstones can sting!

I am thinking...

about all the little projects I'm working on and trying to finish this week. I've also got a decision to make that I want to be wise about, so that is on my heart and mind.

I am thankful for...

the rain, my family, how God has blessed our garden with life, how He has blessed us with this new life inside me, how incredibly blessed I am.

From the kitchen...

are a few loaves of bread and rolls, three meals a day, a lovely pot of Apricot Tea.

I am creating...

some items for the Art Swap at Quill Cottage. My kit arrived today.

I am going...

to be home during the days all week, except for Dumpling's nine month well-baby exam on Friday. I have plans with a sweet friend tomorrow evening.

It's nice to be home after running around all weekend. I attended the high school graduation ceremony and a bunch of parties for one of my former fifth grade classes. Being out and about three days in a row is a lot for me now. Weird how things change! I'd of thought nothing of it all a few years ago.

I am wearing...

a red gingham shirt, white capris and my hair in braided ponytails. I am barefoot as usual, ok--I'm barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. I took off my apron as it is the end of the day.

I am reading...

Little House on the Prairie

I am hoping...

to join Sweetheart out on the back step in a moment.

I am hearing...

the rain fall, the birds calling one another, the soundtrack to Pride & Prejudice playing softly.

Around the house...

are a few scattered toys left to pick up, a few more dishes to rinse, a load of laundry to fold.

One of my favorite things...

in waiting for me on the back step. *** Time to take a break and go outside to sit by Sweetheart.*** I'm back!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...

working on the cushions for the porch, creating the projects for the Art Swap, taking care of little boys, weeding the garden.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing for you...

These are some of the incredible iris I have growing on the side of the house. The iris have been so amazing this year! I wish I could cut a bouquet for each one of you. I'd also pour you a cup of that Apricot Tea so you could sit and visit with me.
