Psalm 139

"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be."
***

Sadly, for this mama,
those days were not to be on this earth
where I might have held you,
and cared for you,
and watched you grow.

I already loved you

I will always miss you, my littlest one

I know all too well the sadness you are feeling now. I lost 2 babies, each at 15 weeks, one in late June 10 years ago now. It is a difficult time. But it is also a time of great personal growth.. there are gifts this child has brought to your life, and lessons to be learned that strengthen you for life's journeys. My miscarriages came after 2 healthy pregnancies.. and I eventually had my third son. The rejoicing over him, and the appreciation of the other 2, continues to this day.. even though they are getting so big. But I always also remember the other 2, who I love deeply, even though their time with me was short. And I thank them for their gifts to my life.

Sweet girl - This is so very hard for you, I know. May the Lord comfort you as only He is able. You are surrounded by love and prayer support. Please guard your tender heart - people will say things that will be very 'well meaning' but still hurt like crazy. Might I suggest you plan now to choose to forgive and forget those well meaning words quickly, and just look at the heart behind the illspoken thoughtlessness? I had to learn that lesson in the hardest way, so it's my first thought when others suffer a great loss. May the Lord bless and keep you.

I do agree with Heather (whom I believe is a pastor's wife so she would know) that you will receive some comments from well meaning people that will be... unwelcome. :)

My first little boy was born a few months too early and he lived only a half an hour. His name was Matthew Christopher. Even my pastor at the time made it out that it happened because of my lack of faith.

As I look back, I don't know why God took Matthew before I could hold him but I do know I would not have had Stephanie a year later.

There is another Christopher now... his "little" six foot tall brother. There is also another Matthew, his adorable one year old nephew.

Our Matthew is waiting on the other side. He knows what Heaven looks like. He knows what Jesus looks like. I'm sure he can hardly wait to show his Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, nieces, and nephews.

You and your hubby continue to be in my prayers. I am sure he is grieving in his own way.

Kimberly, I am so sorry for your loss. Having experienced a similar loss, I can identify with how you might be feeling...but truly, each person's pain is their own, and no one--apart from Jesus--knows exactly how you're feeling. However, be assured that my heart goes out to you, and I pray for deep comfort to be yours in the days and weeks and months and years to come.

Your sweet words of love for your baby in this post remind me so much of my thoughts after our loss. These are some of the things I wrote in the pregnancy journal that I had begun for that child who didn't grow: "You were so wanted...there wasn't a second when you weren't loved and cherished and wanted." It's painful to read back through that journal, but at the same time I'm grateful that I have it.

Sending you love and hugs across the miles...

Oh, Kimberly. I've thought of you so often in the last few weeks. I had wanted to call you or send an "actual" note to you, because just leaving you a comment seemed so insensitive when I've been there myself and I know what you're going through. But, it seems worse to let anymore time go by, so here I am commenting!

I hope time has eased the pain a bit, like I know it can, but just know that I'm so sorry for you. I know the sadness and emptiness you feel. I've been praying for you, and have been glad to read in your blog that you're staying busy and finding joy in the Lord even now.

Much love to you, my friend!
