Musings on Friendship

I've been thinking about friendship and what it means to me. I am so longing for a friend, a real kindred spirit, as Anne would say. I visit other blogs and have found women I know would be great friends. However, none of them appear to live in Colorado!
Being homebound for two and a half weeks with two more to go has been hard. It's lonely. I belong to a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group here. A few of the ladies have sent cards and emails which is so thoughtful. It's nice to know that I'm not completely alone.
It seems that everyone is too busy, though, to just spend time with friends. I'd love for anyone to just stop by and visit. And yes, I have made many invitations. Is it just me, or is it hard for others to forge deep friendships?

I can very much understand where you're at. I've had the same dilemma for years. You are not alone.
Blogs certainly help though, don't they?

Hi Kimberley
I wish we were in Colorado or you your were here in Ohio - we could sit and visit and have tea! I understand your desire for a kindred friend - we have been here for almost two years and I am still looking. What I have found is that women are too busy for friendship, or don't have the energy to invest themselves in the lives of others. I find it sad, but I have also found that God brings people into my life who are not at first kindreds, but are in my life to teach me something about myself. I have also found that I can be a blessing to women who have little interest in homemaking or spiritual growth be encouraging them and by example. Don't give up on your desire for a kindred, but don't overlook the women God has placed in your life right now!

It's so nice to know that I'm not alone. I would so like to find a good female friend, but I also do know that I am blesse beyond measure to have the most wonderful husband who is my best friend. He even loves to have tea with me!
Heather~Thank you for your comments. I will take them to heart.

I just found your blog through The Sparrow's Nest. I know exactly how you feel! My husband is originally from (Parker) Colorado and we hope to move there (probably CO Springs) sometime. If/when we move out there I would definitely love to have you as my friend!

I'll be adding you to my list of blogs to visit. Please feel free to visit my little bloggy home. :o)
